Our work at the Ningxia Tengger Desert New Energy Base reflects the value of combining advanced engineering with unwavering project responsibility. As one of China’s first 10-million-kW-level national new-energy bases, this megaproject demonstrates how strong system design can elevate an entire regional power framework. We proudly serve as the main equipment supplier, providing core Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions—including battery cells, high-protection containers, and supporting equipment.

The first phase alone includes a 100 MW/200 MWh energy storage power station, supported by an overarching plan of 13 million kW of new-energy installations and over CNY 85 billion in total investment. Our self-developed BESS products are engineered to withstand harsh environmental extremes unique to desert landscapes. From -30°C to 60°C, our batteries continue to operate with stability, ensuring that utility-scale deployments maintain uninterrupted output despite harsh climatic cycles. Our high-grade protection designs also guard the system against dust and sand erosion—an indispensable feature for the long-term sustainability of utility-scale energy storage systems.

Empower Desert and Gobi Renewable Bases with Resilient Storage Technologies

When developing utility-scale battery storage systems for remote bases, adaptability and resilience matter just as much as efficiency and system performance. In the Tengger Desert, where sandstorms, low humidity, and volatile temperature shifts are daily realities, we engineered our systems to maintain excellent cycle life, thermal safety, and grid-support capability. This project is part of China’s broader national strategy to build vast wind and photovoltaic clusters in previously underdeveloped desert regions, transforming them into hubs of renewable energy generation.

Once connected to the grid, the first phase of the base will generate approximately 1.8 billion kWh of clean power annually—enough to supply nearly 1.5 million households. With HiTHIUM’s BESS solutions supporting system dispatchability and storage reliability, we play an essential role in stabilizing power quality, enhancing energy supply capacity, and strengthening cross-regional delivery for clean electricity.
